The Baltimore Ravens added depth at two positions of need before Sunday’s season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
Baltimore elevated linebacker Carl Jones Jr. and wide receiver Chris Moore from the practice squad Saturday. Both will be eligible to play Sunday before automatically reverting to the practice squad following the game. Jones provides additional depth at inside linebacker after Teddye Buchanan was ruled out with a knee injury. The Ravens retained Roquan Smith, Trenton Simpson and Jay Higgins IV on their initial 53-man roster, but Jones can contribute defensively and on special teams.
The former UCLA linebacker appeared in 10 games for Baltimore last season and recorded five special teams tackles. His familiarity with the organization
made him a logical Week 1 choice.
We have activated (standard practice squad elevations) LB Carl Jones and WR Chris Moore for tomorrow’s game.

We have also released CB Lardarius Webb Jr. from the practice squad and signed LB Jamon Johnson to the practice squad.
Moore gives the Ravens another experienced option at wide receiver and on special teams. Devontez Walker is listed as questionable with a groin injury, potentially creating a need behind Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and rookie Ja’Kobi Lane. Moore began his NFL career as a fourth-round pick by Baltimore in 2016 and spent his first five seasons with the Ravens. The 33-year-old returned during training camp before being released during final roster reductions and re-signed to the practice squad.
Baltimore also released cornerback Lardarius Webb Jr. from the practice squad and brought back linebacker Jamon Johnson. Webb, the son of former Ravens defensive back Lardarius Webb, joined Baltimore as an undrafted rookie and returned to the practice squad after final cuts.
The moves give Baltimore additional flexibility for Jesse Minter’s first game as head coach.
