The most important result from the Baltimore Ravens' preseason finale had little to do with their 41-3 victory over the Washington Commanders.
Baltimore appeared to emerge without a significant new injury.
No Ravens player was ruled out with an injury during the game, and the team did not announce a major new issue in the immediate postgame period. That represented an ideal outcome for a team that held 33 players out of uniform and prioritized reaching the regular season with its core intact.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson, running backs Derrick Henry and Justice Hill, wide receivers Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Ja'Kobi Lane, and four starting offensive linemen were among those who did not play. Baltimore also rested most of its established defense,
including Roquan Smith, Kyle Hamilton, Marlon Humphrey, Nate Wiggins and Trey Hendrickson.
Several players carried injury questions into the finale. Jamon Johnson had been dealing with a thumb injury, while Bilhal Kone was working through a lower-body issue. Flowers previously sustained a quadriceps contusion during training camp, and defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike continued working back from a neck injury.
The most significant injury of Baltimore's summer remains center Danny Pinter's torn patellar tendon. Pinter was placed on injured reserve after suffering the season-ending injury during a joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings. His absence created the ongoing competition between Jovaughn Gwyn and Ethan Pocic at center.
Baltimore will have to see how players respond over the next 24 hours, and Minter's next media availability should provide additional clarity. The initial indication, however, was encouraging: The Ravens completed their final preseason game without adding another obvious major injury before Week 1 preparations begin.
