TheBaltimore Ravens have no shortage of offensive stars, or stars in the making. Still, it isn't hard to argue that few of their players on that side of the ball have been more explosive through the first month of the season than Zay Flowers.
Sunday's victory over the Tennessee Titansoffered another reminder of just how dangerous he can be. Flowers was targeted 10 times, hauling in eight receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown beforeLamar Jackson was lost for the gameand the Ravens, whether intentionally or unintentionally, shifted into clock-management mode during the second half. It's fair to wonder what his numbers might look like had a hamstring injury not interrupted his start to the season.
It's also fair to wonder how much bigger his Week
4 stat line might have been if Lamar Jackson had stayed in the game for all four quarters. Those questions don't have answers. The observations below do. Here's a look at another big day and some of what it means.
Another fantastic display of versatility
One of the most impressive aspects of Flowers' performance was how many different ways he impacted the game. His first reception came from the slot on an intermediate route. He caught the pass seven yards beyond the line of scrimmage and turned it into a 23-yard gain.
Later, he scored on a crossing route that showcased his ability to create separation and accelerate after the catch. He also connected with Lamar Jackson on a deep completion after getting behind the defense. Some receivers thrive in one area of the field. Flowers continues to prove he can be effective at all three levels.
He's leading the Ravens despite missing a game
The numbers look even more impressive in the right context. Flowers has appeared in only three games this season, yet he still leads the Ravens in receiving yards and touchdown receptions. He has been targeted 22 times, catching 18 passes for 352 yards and two touchdowns.
His 117.3 receiving yards per game lead the team comfortably, while his 19.6 yards-per-catch average ranks among Baltimore's best marks. Missing time has done little to slow his production.
Another 100-yard day adds to his growing legacy
At some point, Flowers may force his way into every significant receiving conversation in franchise history. His performance against Tennessee marked the 11th 100-yard receiving game of his career, giving him sole possession of the Ravens' franchise record. The previous record holder, Mark Andrews, was also productive Sunday, catching his own touchdown pass.
Flowers has already recorded two receptions of at least 50 yards this season. Even in his least productive outing, he still totaled 84 receiving yards while averaging 16.8 yards per catch. Big plays have become a weekly expectation rather than an occasional bonus. Barring further injury, more magic seems possible.
Another 1,000-yard season feels within reach
The conversation may no longer be whether Flowers reaches 1,000 yards. The more interesting question might be how high the final number climbs. His pace through three games puts him among the NFL's most productive receivers, and little evidence suggests defenses have found a reliable answer.
Whether the ball comes from Lamar Jackson or another quarterback, Flowers consistently creates separation and generates explosive plays. Health will always be the biggest variable, but if he remains on the field, another 1,000-yard campaign feels less like a possibility and more like an expectation. The way he is playing, even larger goals may soon enter the discussion.
