. Instead, they found more frustration. They struggled to find consistency. A heartbreaking Week 17 loss ensured they'd be watching the postseason from home. That fueled an offseason search for answers. One of the questions asked was about a four-time Pro Bowler/ two-time First-Team All-Pro.Not long ago, Marlon Humphrey found himself at the center of one of the biggest offseason conversations. Scrutiny led to a common question. Might Baltimore move on? Few players drew more attention as being on the 'hot seat.'
Some questioned whether the former All-Pro had lost a step. Others wondered how much injuries had impacted
his performance. His sizable contract only amplified the discussion, as Humphrey enters a season carrying a cap hit north of $26 million.
Inside the Ravens' building, however, there appears to be little concern. Humphrey admits to battling injury in 2025, but also assures that he's now healthy. Head coach Jesse Minter recently offered a strong endorsement of the veteran cornerback, making it clear he believes Humphrey remains a critical piece of Baltimore's defense.
"I've got a lot of confidence in Marlon Humphrey," Coach Minter stated while addresing the media after practice... "I think he's really embraced some of the technical changes."
The comments carried weight because they addressed more than Humphrey's physical ability. Minter pointed to the veteran's willingness to adapt, a trait that often separates players who sustain success from those who struggle to evolve. That respect appears to be mutual. Humphrey recently spoke positively about Minter's communication with the team, highlighting the head coach's ability to connect with players and set clear expectations.

For a defense undergoing adjustments under a new coaching staff, that buy-in from one of the organization's most respected veterans is significant. The Ravens still need more from their secondary than they received a season ago. They also need Humphrey to resemble the player who helped anchor one of the NFL's most respected defenses for much of the past decade. Early signs suggest Baltimore believes that player is still there.
Whether that confidence is rewarded won't be determined in training camp. It will be decided when Baltimore's defense is tested this fall.
For now, though, one thing appears clear: while outsiders spent the offseason debating Humphrey's future, the Ravens never stopped believing in one of the cornerstones of their defense. Now healthy and operating under a coaching staff that clearly values his leadership and experience, Humphrey has an opportunity to remind everyone why he earned four Pro Bowl selections and two First-Team All-Pro honors in the first place.
