The Auburn Tigers will play their first true road game of the season this Saturday. They will do so against a highly ranked Tennessee Volunteers team.
On Sunday, the latest AP Top 25 poll was released, and the Tigers' upcoming opponent dropped three spots after their 20-17 loss to No. 1 Texas. The Volunteers dropped from No. 14 to No. 17 following the defeat. They will be looking to rebound this week as they welcome Auburn to Neyland Stadium. Saturday will be Auburn's first game of the season against a ranked opponent. The Florida Gators and Baylor Bears were not ranked when the Tigers played them. The Gators entered the AP Top 25 after defeating Auburn 44-39 on Sept. 19.
The Florida Gators made a big jump in the latest rankings after their 52-28
win over No. 4 Ole Miss. Florida entered the game ranked No. 21 and jumped 13 spots to No. 8 after the win. The loss dropped Ole Miss five spots to No. 9. Texas and Georgia both remain at No. 1 and No. 2 after picking up SEC victories. The Bulldogs were dominant in a 41-13 win over Oklahoma.
Mississippi State made another big leap in the rankings. The Bulldogs improved eight spots to No. 16 after defeating Missouri. Kentucky made their debut in the rankings at No. 24 after defeating South Alabama. Texas A&M dropped out of the rankings after being No. 23 last week. The Aggies lost to No. 11 LSU 35-6. Despite Auburn defeating Vanderbilt 21-15, the Tigers did not receive any votes.
