Auburn football returns to Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday for the first time in nearly a month to face the No. 17 LSU Tigers.
Auburn is ready to return to its home field after pulling off one of college football's most stunning upsets in Week 7 over then-No. 1 Georgia. Auburn won the turnover battle, 3-0, and ran the football efficiently, outgaining the Bulldogs, 192-113, in what was arguably its cleanest game of the season. LSU bounced back from Week 6's loss at Kentucky by shutting out then-No. 19 Mississippi State in Baton Rouge, 31-0. The Tigers took advantage of a Kamario Taylor-less Mississippi State squad, outgaining them, 379-291.

This week marks the second straight week Auburn has had
to prepare for a top SEC squad in terms of production. LSU is the SEC-best in total offense (504 yards per game), defense (256.4 yards allowed per game), first downs (28 per game), and passing (308 yards per game). The Bayou Bengals rank in the top five in several other categories, including points per game, points allowed per game, and time of possession.
However, Auburn proved in Athens last week that stats do not matter and that being more physical can be enough to win.
A key storyline to follow is the battle between two first-year head coaches, Alex Golesh and Lane Kiffin. Kiffin is 2-3 against Auburn as a head coach, and has won his last two games against the Tigers (2022 and 2023 at Ole Miss). Golesh has never faced Kiffin as a head coach. Another storyline is the rivalry renewal between two old-school SEC West teams. Auburn and LSU have not played since the 2023 season, and LSU leads the series, 30-24-1 over Auburn.
Here is an early look at the betting odds and a prediction for Saturday's game between the Auburn Tigers and the LSU Tigers.

Auburn vs. LSU predictions, picks for college football Week 8
LSU 28, Auburn 20: Auburn will face a similar situation in its upcoming game against LSU as it did last week against Georgia, where it faced one of the SEC's best overall teams. LSU ranks No. 1 in overall offense, defense, and passing offense in the SEC, and is top five in several other categories. However, Auburn proved last week at Georgia that stats don't matter and the more physical team will likely win. Will they prove that theory again this week? - Taylor Jones
