The bye week is here for the Auburn Tigers, which comes at a great time as the Tigers will battle three teams ranked in the top 11 of the latest US LBM Coaches Poll in October.
Auburn dropped an SEC contest last weekend to No. 14 Tennessee. 24-14, despite leading the Volunteers at halftime and outgaining them, 259-198, in the second half. The major difference in the game was the rise of Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop, who rushed for 150 of his 220 yards and scored three times in the second half.
Now that Auburn has the chance to reset ahead of a brutal stretch of games, it is time to reflect on the first five games of the 2026 season.According to Pro Football Focus, Auburn's offense has played 362 total snaps through five games; nine players
have been on the field for over half the snaps, and 15 players have played more than 100 snaps.
Here is a look at the top offensive snap-takers for the Auburn Tigers through five games:
A pair of offensive linemen and quarterback Byrum Brown have played the most snaps for Auburn so far this season, seeing the field for 95% of offensive snaps. Best and Ramil have played the same position consistently this season, with Best playing all 344 snaps at center and Ramil playing all but three snaps at right tackle.
Jo Simmons, Wilson Zierer, and Cole Skinner join Best and Ramil as the top snap-takers on the Auburn offensive line. Simmons and Skinner have played multiple positions this season but have resided at left tackle and right guard, respectively. Zierer has been the most versatile on the line this season. The true freshman has played three positions: left guard (237 snaps), right tackle (14 snaps), and right guard (2 snaps). The next two offensive linemen are Jacob Strand, who ranks No. 11 with 163 snaps, and Kenneth McManus, who is No. 12 with 141 snaps.
Brown's top two receivers, Chas Nimrod and Keshaun Singleton, have been on the field for the same amount of time, with Jeremiah Koger in third place with 180 snaps. Nimrod, Singleton, and Koger are the only Auburn receivers to play more than 100 snaps. DeShawn Spencer is next (91), followed by Christian Neptune (71), and Brian Williams Jr. (28).
What are some other notable trends based on snap count totals? The tight end position has seen a healthy split between Jake Johnson and Arlis Boardingham, who have both played just under 140 snaps this season. DeShawn Spencer, who has two touchdown grabs this season, has played only 91 snaps this season. Finally, Auburn's other running backs, Omar Mabson and Bryson Washington, have played 110 and 67 snaps, respectively.
Auburn football is on their bye week, and will return in Week 6 to battle the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs in Athens on Saturday, Oct. 17.
