Auburn football loses an up-and-coming edge rusher due to a collarbone injury.
The Faulk name is known in Auburn because of former football player Keldric Faulk's time as an Auburn Tiger, and the legacy of the name was expected to be built on this season by his younger brother J.J. Faulk. Recently in practice though, the redshirt freshman suffered an injury to his collarbone.
Head coach Alex Golesh spoke to the media on Wednesday, Aug. 19, giving an update on the young edge rusher. He said he expects Faulk to miss at least the regular season. An unfortunate outcome for Faulk as he had been improving this offseason.
"J.J. Faulk had surgery today. The hope is that towards the end of the season, end of November or December, we would have him. So as of right
now, he would be out for the regular season, which stinks, but I feel for him, and he has worked hard to put himself in a position to play," Golesh said.
Faulk has already undergone surgery on the injury, with hopes of being back by the end of November or December. In Auburn's first scrimmage of fall camp, Faulk recorded a sack and had been developing alongside young standout defensive end Jared Smith.
The Tigers now have three players dealing with long-term recovery injuries going into the season with offensive lineman Tai Buster (ankle) and cornerback Devin Williams (knee).
