The Auburn Tigers picked up the win over Baylor on Saturday, 17-16. However, the game has left some questions about this Auburn football team.
The Tigers' offense struggled at times, including Byrum Brown, who threw three interceptions. The defense played as well as they did most of the 2025 season. That said, Auburn starts the season with a 1-0 record and is one step closer to snapping its streak of five consecutive losing seasons.
This week in the ESPN FPI Rankings, the Tigers dropped from No. 22 to No. 27. The ranking now gives Auburn a 68% chance at winning six games this season. The projected win-loss record is now at 6.4 wins and 5.6 losses. After week 2, ESPN FPI is predicting a 6-6 record for the first year under Alex Golesh.
A big change
is that Auburn is now projected to lose to Florida after having a 51.6% chance of winning entering the season. While still the favorite, Auburn's chances to defeat Mississippi State have dropped from 67.5% to 50.6%.
