Auburn football is set to square off with Florida in the first SEC test for both teams. As exciting as this game is, the "vibes" are a little low for both squads, says Seth Emerson of The Athletic.
Emerson has placed both Florida and Auburn on the low end ofhis weekly "SEC Vibes" ranking, despite the teams entering the game with 2-0 records, ranking them No. 10 and No. 11 respectively.
For Auburn, who checks in at No. 11 in this week's rankings, Emerson points out that the pressure is on the Tigers after barely escaping Week 1 with a win and battling a tough opponent in Week 3.
"Golesh and Auburn have already had a test and (barely) passed it against Baylor. But between that close call and the Florida game being at home, the pressure is more on
the Tigers," writes Emerson
Florida, who is No. 10, has wins over Florida Atlantic and Campbell to open the season. While the buzz is high with the Gators under first-year head coach Jon Sumrall, Emerson is still not impressed with the Gators early on.
"Jon Sumrall has done what he should against an opening schedule that did not include Utah, Miami or even South Florida. Now comes the first test, against fellow first-year coach Alex Golesh," Emerson writes.
While the vibes are low for both Auburn and Florida ahead of this weekend's matchup, they are not as low as the ones surrounding Arkansas, which has the worst vibes in the SEC this week after losing big to Utah in Week 2. Oklahoma also took a large hit in the vibes rankings after losing to Michigan on the road. Mississippi State's stock is the highest in this week's rankings after quarterback Kamario Taylor's Heisman-like performance against Minnesota over the weekend.
