The Auburn Tigers have dropped in the latest NCAA 1-138 Re-Rank by USA TODAY Sports after losing to Tennessee last Saturday.
Auburn enters its bye week ranked No. 39 in the rankings compiled by USA TODAY's Paul Myerberg, after dropping nine spots from No. 30 ahead of its Week 5 clash at Tennessee.
The Tigers took a slight hit, but just avoided being a part of a club of teams that took significant blows. This week, 21 teams fell 10 spots or more, with Illinois suffering the most by dropping 32 spots after losing to Purdue. North Texas made the biggest jump by moving 24 spots to No. 73 after beating Tulsa in overtime.
Auburn will take a week away from action, but will return from the break with a tough gauntlet. Auburn's next opponent, Georgia, takes
the top spot in this week's re-rank, with its two following opponents in the top 12. LSU checks in at No. 12 this week while Ole Miss is at No. 7. Auburn will also face two teams in the top 30 in November: Mississippi State (No. 27) and Alabama (No. 6).
Auburn football faces Georgia on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2:30 p.m. CT in Athens, Georgia.
