Auburn football's slide in the USA TODAY Re-Rank reflects its recent loss to the LSU Tigers.
Auburn suffered its worst loss of the season in Week 8, losing to LSU by 21 points. The loss caused Auburn to drop nearly as many spots in Paul Myerberg's latest re-rank. Auburn is now No. 45, down 19 spots from last week. The win pushed LSU up seven spots to No. 14.
Auburn's 19-spot skid is the biggest drop the Tigers have suffered this season in the re-rank, overtaking the nine-spot drop it suffered after its Week 5 loss to Tennessee. A total of 16 teams fell 10 spots or more after Week 8's action, with Auburn taking the biggest hit.
Auburn will face another tough opponent this week in Ole Miss. The Rebels dropped four spots in this week's ranking after
their Week 8 loss to Texas, but remain highly ranked at No. 11. Ole Miss is one of eight SEC teams in Myerberg's top 25; Georgia leads the pack at No. 3.
Auburn will look to pull off another upset on Saturday at Ole Miss. Kickoff from Vaught-Hemmingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, is set for 11:45 a.m. CT.
