Auburn football opened the season with a narrow win over Baylor in Week 1 and is now set to play in front of its home fans for the first time in the 2026 season.
Auburn football will host Southern Miss for a nighttime kickoff inside Jordan-Hare Stadium for the first home game of the Alex Golesh era. The Tigers and Golden Eagles are both 1-0 after picking up wins over Baylor and Alcorn State, respectively.
Saturday's game features two first-year head coaches: Alex Golesh for Auburn and Blake Anderson for Southern Miss. Auburn is Golesh's second head-coaching job after spending three seasons leading USF before coming to the Plains. Anderson has led a more veteran career, especially at the Group of Five level. He takes over for Charles Huff at Southern Miss after making
stops at Arkansas State and Utah State.

One of the biggest battles to watch for on Saturday is the run game. Southern Miss opened the season by rushing for 317 yards against Alcorn State in a 49-3 win. However, Auburn's defense limited Baylor's rushing attack to just 103 yards in Week 1, with Baylor running back Dawson Pendergrass gaining 88 of those yards.
