Auburn football was one of three SEC teams to down a fellow Power Four team in Week 1, defeating Baylor in the Aflac Kickoff Game, 17-16.
The Tigers received votes in the US LBM Coaches Poll ahead of Week 1; did they gain ground in this week's poll after their season-opening victory? Auburn remains outside of the coaches poll top 25 this week, but received 19 votes after their big win on Saturday. The Tigers had little chance of climbing into the top 25 this week as only one team, Clemson, fell out of the rankings after Week 1.
The SEC had a dominating weekend with all 14 teams picking up wins in Week 1. Because of the weekend success, 10 SEC members have earned a spot in Week 2's coaches poll, with three more receiving votes. Georgia remains
the highest-ranked team in the SEC at No. 2, followed by Texas, LSU, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma in the top 10. Ole Miss is just outside the top 10 at No. 11, with Alabama (No. 13), Tennessee (No. 18), Missouri (No. 23), and Florida (No. 25), rounding out the top 25. South Carolina and Vanderbilt join Auburn in the receiving votes category.
Auburn football will get the chance to boost its stock and inch closer to a top-25 bid this weekend when it hosts Southern Miss on Saturday in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 6:45 p.m. CT and will air live on SEC Network.
