Wednesday's exhibition game between the Tigers and Seminoles features two head coaches in their second season with their respective teams, aiming to take a step forward. Despite winning the NIT, last season was seen as a disappointment for Auburn under first-year head coach Steven Pearl, considering the Tigers appeared in the Final Four the season before. Auburn ended the 2025-26 season unranked with a 22-16 record. Offseason additions Thomas Dowd, Bukky Oboye, Narcisse Ngoy, and Adam Olsen join returning stars Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton in orange and blue this season.

Florida State finished 18-15 last season

and missed out on an NCAA Tournament bid after bowing out early in the ACC Tournament with a one-point loss to Duke. FSU alum Luke Loucks leads the Seminoles into Birmingham with 12 new players looking to make a name for themselves this season, starting on Wednesday at Boutwell Auditorium.
