Auburn football took another tough loss on Saturday after being in a great spot to steal a win.
Auburn's two-point conversion with 6:20 remaining in the 3rd quarter that would have tied the game at 17-17 failed and sparked a massive run by the Ole Miss Rebels that saw them outscore Auburn, 28-0, over the final 18:25 of game time, ultimately leading to the Tigers' 45-15 loss.
Auburn head coach Alex Golesh expressed disappointment with his team's "lack of finish" on Saturday, a thought quarterback Byrum Brown agreed with.
"I would agree. It was two different teams from the first half to the second half," Brown said postgame. "(We) just got to find a way to go finish. Don't wait on nobody to make a play, just gotta bow up and go finish."
Despite the
tough loss, several players made impacts for the Auburn Tigers in its loss to Ole Miss. Here are this week's Tigers of the Game.
Taylor Jones: Christian Neptune
Auburn needed someone to step up at wide receiver for Jeremiah Koger, who was ruled out for Saturday's game, and Christian Neptune delivered. Neptune led all Auburn receivers with five catches for 53 yards. He caught all five passes thrown his way and had zero drops.
Phillip Jordan: Byrum Brown
It was a tough day, but Byrum Brown still found success through the air at Ole Miss. He completed 25-of-38 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown on Saturday, completing at least one pass to 12 different receivers.
Jac Myrick: Chas Nimrod
Chas Nimrod was the Tigers' stat leader in receiving yards with 62 on Saturday. The senior has now hauled in at least 60 receiving yards in two of his last three games.
