Auburn head coach Alex Golesh provided injury updates for players set to compete for key jobs during fall camp, which gets underway this week.
Golesh addressed the injury status of Anquon "Newboy" Fegans, Shamar Arnoux, Chris Murray, Corey Wells, and Tai Buster during his first media availability of the fall. According to Golesh, the statuses of defensive backs Fegans and Arnoux are promising, as they are listed as "day-to-day" before camp begins.
"Newboy Fegans, rehabbing, he’s day-to-day; we’ll have him back here really quickly. Shamar Arnoux, rehabbing, day-to-day, should be available here within the next week as well," Golesh said Monday.
However, one player is projected to miss extended time. Offensive lineman Tai Buster, who participated
in two games last season, is expected to miss part of the season, creating a new rift in the offensive tackle battle.
(Buster will) be out, I’d assume the first five of six games and hopefully have him towards the backstretch," Golesh said. "Which is unfortunate for him because he’s had an incredible summer, and he’s working his tail off to get back. Other than that group, we are healthy, rocking and rolling."
As for Wells and Murray, expect to see them hit the practice field for the first time this preseason midway through camp, which got underway Tuesday and will last two weeks, leading up to the Tigers' home opener in Atlanta against Baylor at the Aflac Kickoff Game.
