Georgia head coach Kirby Smart says that he expects Auburn to be physical on Saturday when the latest edition of "The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry" is contested.
During his press conference on Monday, Smart was asked about the traits of an Alex Golesh offense.
"Physical. Like people want to make it about passing, and then they have a lot of good passes, and they have tempo. They get a lot of plays, but they're physical," Smart said.
A lot of fans think of physical and the run game when it pertains to offense. Auburn has not gotten the running backs going this season like they would have wanted to. However, Omar Mabson showed flashes versus Tennessee with 62 yards on 10 attempts. Jeremiah Cobb has not gotten going as the featured back, and the Tigers
will need the running game for an upset over Georgia.
Smart continued by mentioning the Tigers' desire to be vertical in the passing game.
"When you watch the games I watched yesterday on them, you immediately see those same pillars of his program being able to throw the ball vertical down the field and being physical at the point of attack. And they've got a guy that can do that with their quarterback," said Smart.
The offense leans on the abilities of quarterback Byrum Brown. This season, he has completed 65.4% of his passes for 1,055 yards and seven touchdowns. On the ground, Brown has rushed for 344 yards and four more scores. The negative statistic for Brown is that he has thrown seven interceptions in the Tigers' five games this season. He had seven for the entire 2025 season for South Florida.
Another element of a potential upset victory for Auburn will be winning the turnover battle. They cannot help the Bulldogs and expect to win.
