Houston Texansquarterback C.J. Stroud played with wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.for two years in college at Ohio State.
After Houston’s trade with the Arizona Cardinals for the 2024 No. 4 overall pick, the two are reunited again for at least the next two seasons.
Stroud had ample praise for his former college teammate, complimenting Harrison’s route running and how it helps the quarterback.
"I would just say his route running. He's really good at running great routes. He gets open on time, I think he's a very quarterback-friendly receiver,” Stroud said. “The better you are with getting the ball at your hands on time, the better he is. I think that's why him and I had so much success because I'm a pocket quarterback that likes to throw it to him on time.
That's when he's at his best. That's one of the great things he does."
During Stroud’s final year in college, there was not a more successful duo in college football than Stroud and Harrison Jr. However, Harrison., the son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison, has not played the way scouts expected him to coming out of college.
Especially after his rookie season, his production has been limited. In the first four games of this season, he only had five receptions and one touchdown.
The Texans gave up some significant draft capital, a second-round and a sixth-round pick in the upcoming draft, for Harrison Jr and a seventh-round pick.
Harrison is going to make his debut for Houston in their London game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, although it remains to be seen how much he will be on the field.
