Hang the banner, Houston Texans fans.
One head coach believes Houston is the greatest winless team in NFL history.
Despite sitting at 0-4 for the first time since 2020, the Texans still remain one of the league's more talented teams. Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh would agree, since he is sold on the idea that DeMeco Ryans' roster might be the best to never do it.
“Might be the greatest 0-4 team in the history of football,” Saleh said of the Texans during his appearance earlier this week on the Titans team’s podcast.
Look, it's a compliment for all the wrong reasons. No one wants to think they're a good football that can't close the door, but that's somewhat where Houston is entering Sunday's matchup at Nissan Stadium.
Few people expected
Houston and Tennessee to have the same record entering Sunday's matchup. The reality is Houston could be sitting at 3-1, but its defense has given up scores in the final minute, costing the offense a chance to win.
Early-season injuries to key contributors have also hurt Houston's chances. Pro wide receiver Nico Collins missed two games with a hamstring injury. Pro Bowl linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair was out in Week 4's loss to the Cowboys because of a groin strain.

And other key players like offensive lineman Ed Ingram, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and linebacker Henry To'oTo'o have missed multiple games, leading to backups being forced to play with regression set in motion at different postions.
Still, Saleh believes Houston not only has the potential to be anyone, but the teams faced all have a spark on offense that could be a problem for any team when pushed to the brink.
“They've lost four games to four really, really good football teams: Buffalo, Cincinnati, Dallas has a high-octane scoring offense, and then Indianapolis is starting to roll a little bit,” Saleh said.
