After having only 10 rushing yards last week, it is understandable why fantasy owners would want to keep Houston Texansrunning backDavid Montgomery on the bench.
However, with his Week 3 matchup, he is a must-start against the Indianapolis Colts.
Montgomery is a solid running back and proved in Week 1's loss to the Buffalo Bills that he can be a valuable fantasy running back. His Week 2 performance is more attributable to the Texans moving away from running the ball and the Cincinnati Bengals' talented defensive line that shut Houston down.
However, Montgomery has a much better matchup for Week 3.
Through the first two weeks of the season, the Colts have given up the second-most rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. In addition, Indianapolis has
allowed the second-most receiving yards to running backs through the first two weeks.
With wide receiver Nico Collins out again, Houston also has an additional reason to want to run the ball.
Therefore, all of the pieces are there for Montgomery to have a bounce-back game against the Colts. Especially with all of the injuries around the NFL, it is important to have players in your lineup that are going to be productive to make up for injuries at other positions.
That makes Montgomery a must-start in fantasy this week with an optimal matchup and proven ability to put up fantasy points.
