C.J. Stroud only found the end zone twice, but he was phenomenal for four quarters of action.
Stroud delivered a game to be proud of following a 26-3 win over the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The former No. 2 overall pick, looking to be paid like a No. 1 overall quarterback, threw for 261 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score to pick up the first win of the regular season.
For the fifth straight game, Stroud didn't throw an interception. He was direct, on time and delivered several explosive passes downfield for first-down gains en route to securing a victory for the sixth straight season in Nashville.
In retrospect, Stroud could have gotten over 300 passing yards for the third time this season, but several
holding penalties negated big plays and resulted in four first-half field goals from Ka'imi Fairbairn. In the second half, it was a different story.
Stroud was exceptional on third down, completing six passes for 49 yards. He found Kayshon Boutte for a gain of 23 yards to set up a 2-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, he connected with Xavier Hutchinson for a gain of 14 to set up the 9-yard touchdown reception to Jaylin Noel.
For his efforts and performance, Texans Wire has named Stroud the Week 5 Player of the Game, sharing duties with running back David Montgomery and defensive end Will Anderson Jr., who has taken the award home three times already in a short period.
The Texans and Stroud head across the pond for a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London next Sunday at Wembley Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:30 a.m.
