Jayden Higgins might be down for the season, but he's already planning his revenge tour for 2027.
The Houston Texans' second-year wideout won't see the field this fall after suffering a torn ACLin the preseason. The news shocked Houston bystorm as Higgins looked like the next great pass-catcher for the Texans' offense entering 2026.
But with hardened times comes a rising message. Higgins posted a quote to his social media account Wednesday morning, signaling that while his road to recovery will be long, he plans to be better because of it on the other side.
“They took a real one out of the game for a lil,” Higgins wrote on his Instagram story. “Best believe I’ll be back!!”
The Texans need Higgins back by next season if they plan on remaining a key
element in the AFC race. Expectations were high after a promising first year and given that several names could be leaving in free agency, Houston will need him to step up in Year 3.

A second-round pick out of Iowa State, Higgins was third on the team in receptions (41) and yards (525) and tied with Nico Collins for a team-high six touchdown catches last season amid a run to the playoffs. He was having a promising training camp and appeared ready to take over a larger role in the offense opposite Nico Collins for quarterback C.J. Stroud.
“He was doing great. It’s the best I’ve seen him. He was making plays, doing things that I haven’t seen him do before, playing physical," Stroud said after the loss to the Raiders last month. "So, my thoughts and prayers are always with him. I’ve been talking to him as much as I can.”
The Texans will now turn to Collins, Jaylin Noel, Xavier Hutchinson and Jared Wayne to step up in the passing game. Houston also brought in New England's Kayshon Boutte via trade, but he's still getting adjusted to the offense and could be limited in his role for Week 1.
As for Tank Dell, the speedster will begin the season on the injured reserve but could be eligible to return in Week 5 on Oct. 11 against the Tennessee Titans, Dell, who suffered a devastating knee injury in December 2024 when he tore his ACL, MCL, LCL and other ligaments, has been trying to return to practice has been limited to only running light drills since the start of training camp.
