The Cincinnati Bengals defense already established themselves as a unit you do not want to go against in their season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, sacking quarterback Baker Mayfield four times and forcing four fumbles, one of which was returned for a touchdown in the second quarter by linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr.
On paper, this isn't the best matchup for Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud to get "right." He's coming off the season opener where he lost two fumbles, including one on the final drive of the game.
He will now have to contend with the Bengals in Week 2, which features a lot of talent, including safety Jordan Battle, Knight, defensive tackles Jonathan Allen and B.J. Hill, defensive ends Myles Murphy and Boye Mafe and newly
acquired All-Pro Dexter Lawrence, who spent the first seven years of his career with the New York Giants.

“Their defensive line is really good,” Stroud said. “Dexter Lawrence is one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL with B.J. Hill. I think Jonathan Allen's playing some really good ball as well. I think their ends are good as well. Their defensive backs are young; they fly around. They make a lot of plays. Their back end, they've been playing together for a while in same system. I think they play together for a little minute now. But they look good against Tampa and made a lot of plays and had a lot of turnovers. I think they do a good job. We definitely have to be on our P's and Q's.”
Between last postseason and the season opener, Stroud now has seven fumbles and nine total turnovers in the past three games. Houston is looking to avoid starting the season 0-2 for the second straight season, but they may have a bigger problem for the future of their franchise if Stroud’s turnover issues persist.
Cincinnati will take advantage of every opportunity they can and Stroud cannot give the Bengals anything to work with.
