The Houston Texans may be 1-4 so far this season, but that is not because of quarterback C.J. Stroud. His completion percentage is over 64 percent through the first five games with six touchdowns and no interceptions.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans has been impressed with Stroud so far this season, especially last week against the Tennessee Titans.
"C.J., he's done this all year. You see the command as I speak about. It's just calm in the offense, knowing where everyone is going to be,” Ryans said. “One thing I saw is just him, when we did get pressured, him being able to make the hot throws to the right people when he had to make those decisions in the tight moments. He did that. Seeing him again escape the pocket to make the play to Jaylin Noel, there
keeping his eyes downfield. The play to [Kayshon] Boutte on their sideline. I mean, outstanding throw, outstanding catch by Boutte. It's multiple plays within the game of C.J. just playing really great football right now."

Stroud will face a tough challenge in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Jacksonville has allowed a lot of passing yards, but very few passing touchdowns. They also have six interceptions through five games, which is the third-most out of any team in the NFL.
Historically, Stroud has had success against the Jaguars with an average passer rating of 100.7, eight touchdowns and a completion percentage of 67.42. Houston is also undefeated in international games, with their last international win coming in 2019 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

He also has yet to have an interception.
"Doing a great job of protecting the football but also dishing the ball to multiple people," Ryans said." Really playing the play confident. The offensive line has given him time to operate on schedule, and he's doing a great job of just leading this offense. We continue to lean in on what he's doing well and I can't say enough great things about the season that he's having thus far."
