Add another injury to theHouston Texans' defense entering October.
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed on Wednesday that defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr.suffered a torn ACLin Week 3's loss to the Indianapolis Colts and would miss the rest of the regular season. He was placed on the injured reserve ahead of Week 4's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
"Really tough news hearing Mario will be missing the rest of the season," Ryans said. "Mario, he brought a different intensity to our defense. Outstanding energy on the field, just seeing his efforts, seeing his tenacity every single snap. We're going to miss him a lot. Miss him being in the building, we're going to miss him on the field. Guys have to step up in the area where he was. He was really
dynamic as a pass rusher as well. We're going to miss him a lot.”
Edwards, a longtime NFL defensive lineman with stops in Las Vegas, Dallas and Houston, was playing in his second stint with the Texans. Through the first three games, he was credited with two half sacks and four total tackles.

He was part of the DL rotation, and had played fairly well. But his 2026 season is over.
As a corresponding move, the Texans signed defensive end Chris Braswell from their practice squad. He should rotate in with Dominque Robinson, Logan Hall and rookie Sabastian Harsh as options in run-heavy blocking sets.
The Texans take on the Cowboys this Sunday at home. Kickoff on FOX is scheduled for Noon.
