WithPro Bowl wide receiver Nico Collinsfinally returning to the lineup for the Houston Texans in their Week 4 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, it is time for Collins to get back into starting lineups in fantasy.
His return comes amid rampant injuries across the NFL, including some prominent wide receivers not active: DeVonta Smith for the Philadelphia Eagles
and Justin Jefferson for the Minnesota Vikings are among those out. However, the matchup is not the best, as the Cowboys have not been allowing a ton of fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.
Through the first three weeks of the NFL season, the Cowboys have been in the middle of the pack as far as fantasy points surrendered per game to opposing receivers. Dallas has also only given up
three touchdowns to wide receivers so far, which is better than Houston’s defense can say.
Even though the matchup is not the best, there are a lot of reasons Collins must be in your fantasy lineup if he is on your roster. First, there are a lot of injuries, so fantasy owners need healthy players with a reliable floor in their lineup.
More importantly, as the No. 1 receiver on the team, Collins is going to get a lot of targets and Dallas does not have the talent at secondary to stop him even with the addition of cornerback Joey Porter Jr who is expected to debut for them on Sunday.
Collins also had a good fantasy week in the season opener against the Buffalo Bills, his only game of the season. In that game, he had seven receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown and while the Bills have been giving up more points per game to receivers than the Cowboys, it still speaks to the kind of chemistry Collins has with quarterback C.J. Stroud.
A major concern for Collins fantasy owners is probably how poor the Texans offense has been in the past two games. However, that reflects just how important Collins is to this roster. Without Collins in the lineup, Houston’s offense could not do much of anything.
But, the Texans were able to put up 31 points in the only game he has played in this season. If you have Collins, he needs to be in your lineup because he has a solid floor with the volume of targets he is going to get and also has a lot of upside to potentially boom in this game.
