The Houston Texans finally got their first win of the season against the Tennessee Titans in Week 5, but they are trying to make it two in a row when they go to London to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars who are currently on top in the AFC South.
Jacksonville is coming off a thrilling victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in last week’s London game where the Jaguars returned a kickoff 53 yards and kicked the game-winning field goal in eight seconds.
Their top receiver, Parker Washington, caught six passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns. The Jaguars have found ample ways to win this season, but this will be their first divisional matchup of the year.
“I think the thing that sticks out to me about the Jaguars is their play style. It jumps off
the tape,” Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said. “Defensively, they're flying around, they're causing havoc. They do multiple things, moving their front well, pressuring; they do a good job of just mixing it up. Offensively, they're winning on third downs, that's been the key for them. They stay on the field, they sustain drives because they keep the third downs at a manageable area in that short window. They're able to have their whole playbook at their disposal. They're doing a good job. Liam [Coen] has done a great job of leading that team for the second year in a row and they're off to a great start.”
Houston has generally fared well against the Jaguars, winning two-thirds of the games against Jacksonville including 13 of the last 16 games against them.
This includes a 36-29 win against the Jaguars last season in November on their way to the playoffs. The Texans are still hoping to make it back to the playoffs this season and a win against Jacksonville would go a long way toward making that happen.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. locally on NFL Network.
