A former Houston Texans starter is now on the market.
According to reports, the Philadelphia Eagles are waiving running back Dameon Pierce. Should he clear waivers, however, the Eagles plan on bringing him back to the starting lineup.
Pierce, who signed a one-year deal with the Eagles this offseason, has been sidelined for most of training camp with a hamstring injury. He was expected to push former Clemson running back Will Shipley for the No. 3 role, but that competition ended after he suffered the injury back in the first week of camp.

A former fourth-round pick by Houston out of
Florida, there were high hopes for Pierce after a dominant rookie season. While the Texans struggled offensively in 2022, Pierce was the one constant chain-mover, rushing for over 900 yards while totaling four touchdowns. He looked the part of a top runner after averaging 4.3 yards a player, but never regained that confidence or production once DeMeco Ryans brought in offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik.
The Texans waived Pierce last season, and he was claimed by the Kansas City Chiefs for the remainder of the year.
Since 2023, Pierce has only rushed for 745 total yards and four touchdowns. He's a good depth piece, but don't expect him to be the bell cow Houston once envisioned back in 2022.
