The Houston Texans feared the worst for one of their most talented safeties, Jalen Pitre, went down with a shoulder injury in Houston’s 26-3 win against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
However, they received good news on Tuesday. Pitre suffered an AC joint sprain and is considered week-to-week and will avoid surgery and injured reserve.
Last season, Pitre played in 14 games for the Texans and was one of four players with Houston who had four interceptions. His best season was in his rookie year with five interceptions, a forced fumble, fumble recovery, a sack and five tackles for loss. He also finished No. 5 in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.

However, injuries have been a problem for Pitre. His rookie season back in 2022 was the only year he played in all 17 games. In 2023, a chest injury in the season opener caused him to miss two weeks. In 2024, Pitre had season-ending surgery to repair a ruptured pectoral. He also missed three games last season due to a concussion. If he misses next week’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, it will mark the fourth season in a row he misses at least one game due to injury.
In the event Pitre is not able to play against Jacksonville, fifth round rookie Kamari Ramsey may start in his place. Ramsey has primarily been a special teams player through the first five weeks, playing on 50 percent of special teams snaps and 12 percent of defensive snaps.
However, Ramsey got his most action of the season against Tennessee in the second half.
He was targeted three times, giving up two receptions for 25 yards. Ramsey also had an outstanding training camp and preseason, which included an interception against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Texans travel across the pond to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
