What is the story about?

Not even a 36-9 win kept the Wisconsin Badgers from falling in ESPN's Football Power Index.

Remember, the FPI is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 20,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date and the remaining schedule.

Last week, UW fell 17 spots after they were embarrassed in the second half by Notre Dame. They lost that game 41-13, but turned around and beat Western Illinois by 27 points in Week 2.

Wisconsin's FPI is now just 2.6 which barely puts them above Northwestern (2.5).

The Badgers dropped three spots, and while that

was far from the biggest fall in the conference, they're now the fifth lowest-ranked team in the Big Ten.

For reference, Ohio State, which blew a massive lead to Texas, rose one spot in ESPN's FPI and is now the top team in the nation at 30.4.
