You can never underestimate the weight that pure athleticism holds in a sport like football. Even the best coaches can lose a game based on one game-breaking player.
For the Wisconsin Badgers, they are fortunate to have three “Freaks,” as The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman reported earlier this month.
No. 46: Junior Poyser, Wisconsin, DT
Poyser finished the 2025 season with Buffalo, totaling 31 tackles and 5.5 sacks. The All-MAC Third Team candidate holds a 4.55 shuttle time and his 30 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press would have placed him first and second in the 2026 NFL Combine for defensive tackles, according to Feldman.
No. 53: Abu Sama III, Wisconsin, RB
Sama fits the archetype of the game’s modern runner, with explosive speed resulting in a 4.44 40-yard dash, and also physical strength that saw him bench 225 pounds
25 times.
No. 77: Javan Robinson, Wisconsin, CB
Rounding out Wisconsin’s selections is the Arizona State transfer with blazing speed that times a 4.32 40-yard dash. According to Feldman, Robinson has also notched over 23 miles per hour.
