The Wisconsin Badgers' volleyball team had a difficult weekend in Pittsburgh that ended with another straight-set loss Sunday afternoon. The No. 6 Badgers fell to No. 4 Pitt, 25-13, 25-21 and 25-16 through three sets.
The Badgers struggled to generate much offensively against one of the nation's best teams. Here are three takeaways from Wisconsin's loss.
1. Wisconsin's offense struggled mightily
The Badgers couldn't seem to find an offensive rhythm against Pitt's physical front row. Wisconsin finished with a .079 hitting percentage, its lowest in a match since Oct. 12, 2016. The Badgers also committed 24 attack errors while Pitt hit .264.
2. Pitt controlled the match at the net
Pitt's physicality made things difficult for Wisconsin throughout the match. The Panthers finished with 11 blocks compared to just five for the Badgers
and consistently disrupted Wisconsin's attack. Pitt also jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the opening set and never relinquished control.
3. A tough weekend provided valuable experience
Wisconsin faced two of the country's best teams in the span of three days, falling to No. 5 Stanford in four sets Friday before Sunday's sweep against No. 4 Pitt. The Badgers now have a clear idea of where they need to improve before returning home to face No. 17 Florida on Wednesday.
