The Wisconsin Badgers suffered their first real setback of the 2026 season following a gritty 17-7 loss at the hands of the No. 12 UCLA Bruins inside the historic Rose Bowl. On the day, despite using backup quarterback Ty Dieffenbach, the senior compiled 264 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Despite Dieffenbach’s good production, the Badgers lost the game thanks to paltry third-down numbers on both sides of the ball. On offense, Wisconsin tallied just a 30% rate. On defense, the Badgers allowed a startling 65% on third downs, negating the good work of forcing two turnovers.
Dreadful playcalling
I cannot fathom that decision to punt down two scores with ~ 5 minutes to play. #Badgers

Colton Joseph’s struggles
This QB is not the answer- 6 completions and 66 yards passing

Rough days ahead?
How can anybody
think they’ll beat usc or iowa?

Same old same for the Wisconsin offense
Just so hard to understand how we can’t find an offensive coordinator that can develop a competent passing attack . UCLA w/ a 1st yr system , backup qb and vs our defense had a more competent Passing offense than we have had in Fickel era.

Defensive miscues
Never seen a Wisconsin defense blow this many advantageous down-and-distance situations

Offensive line has to be better
Defense played lights out. Offensively can’t say the same they have disappeared this entire game. Oline wasn’t the worst I would just say the whole identify of the offense is nonexistent.

Frustrating officiating
UCLA grabs the facemask on 4th down. Doesn’t get called. UCLA ball. Been this way all night.

Targeting
Always a step late in coverage. Not a big deal
