After Tony Romo was arrested in Wisconsin on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence, CBS had no choice but to pull him from the booth.
As of Friday, July 31, CBS Sports announced that former Wisconsin Badgers legend J.J. Watt would be replacing Romo, at least for the time being.
Romo is officially on leave, but that doesn't mean his time as the No. 1 analyst is gone for good.
Watt is set to be part of the top broadcasting team that CBS has to offer, one that includes Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson.
The now-retired NFL star used to work with Ian Eagle and Evan Washburn. Officially, a replacement color commentator for that team has yet to be revealed.
Watt first joined CBS back in 2023 as a studio analyst for "The NFL Today". Last
year marked his first time in the broadcast booth, and he's immediately become the brand's top option now that Romo's future has a major question mark attached to it.
