Wisconsin Badgers football now officially knows when they'll open Big Ten play. The Badgers will travel to Happy Valley on Saturday, Sept. 26, to take on Penn State, and the Big Ten announced Monday that kickoff is set for 4 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed exclusively on Peacock.
The matchup will be Wisconsin's first conference game of the 2026 season and comes against a Penn State team hosting its annual Homecoming game. The Nittany Lions previously announced that the matchup would start no later than 5 p.m. ET.
As far as Wisconsin goes, this game will be an opportunity to see where the program sits against one of the Big Ten's top teams. The Badgers have aspirations of taking a step forward in 2026, and this particular road game will provide
a much clearer test than the non conference portion of the schedule.
A win in Happy Valley would give Wisconsin an immediate boost in confidence and credibility within the conference, while a competitive performance could still show that the Badgers are ready to compete with Big Ten's best. With conference play beginning, the stakes will be significantly higher, making this one of the most important games on Wisconsin's schedule this year.
The Badgers will have one more game at home against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 19 before heading to Penn State for the first Big Ten test of the season.
