In just under two weeks, theWisconsin Badgers’ women’s hockey team will be launching its 2026/27 campaign against St. Lawrence University.
The Badgers will be looking to replicate their 35-4-2 record from an outstanding 2025 season that resulted in a 3-2 NCAA title win over Ohio State.
With such high expectations going into the new season, this will be a team led by several star players, perhaps none more important than forwards Nela Lopušanová and Rosalie Tremblay, who were recently nominated as WHCA preseason rookies of the year.
Lopušanová hails from Bishop Kearney High School, where she won a national title and has represented her home country of Slovakia in several tournaments, including as a captain at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship.
Tremblay recently won the 2025-26 Liz Turgeon Player of the Year award in the Junior Women’s Hockey League. Tremblay has also earned several gold and silver medals through various tournaments up to her time with the Badgers.
For those who are wondering, the Badgers were listed No. 2 overall in the WCHA Preseason Coaches Poll behind just Ohio State with 44 points, receiving two first-place votes.
