Former FSU Seminoles tight end and defensive lineman Amaree Williams is in the SEC and has become a difference-maker for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He had the best game of his career on Saturday, helping them beat the South Carolina Gamecocks 41-34.
Williams is no longer a two-way player, just focusing on defense for the Bulldogs. The decision has paid off for the former Seminole, who led them with 10 tackles, along with 2.0 tackles for loss, and one sack. He also had an interception that was called back due to a penalty by one of his teammates.
It was a breakout game for Williams, who had just two tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss in the first two games of the season. He has started all three games of the season and played a season-high 58
snaps in the South Carolina game.
Williams spent two seasons with the Seminoles after signing with them as a four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. He played in eight games as a true freshman, catching five passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns, playing exclusively on offense.
He then played in all 12 games in 2025, spending time at tight end and defensive end. He caught two passes for 51 yards and a touchdown, as well as 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 2.0 tackles for loss.
The North Palm Beach, Florida product has two more seasons of eligibility remaining after the 2026 season. He is one of five FSU players who signed with Mississippi State over the offseason, along with linebacker Gav Holman, offensive tackles Ja'Elyne Matthews and Mario Nash Jr., and defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins.
