The FSU Seminoles are 3-3 to start the 2026 college football season, going 1-3 in games against Power Four opponents. While they were not expected to be great to start the season, it has still been a disappointing performance in Mike Norvell's seventh season as head coach.
Their struggles have fans clamoring for a change, despite a massive buyout. Now that the regular season is halfway over, Nick Bromberg of Yahoo Sports released his five most disappointing teams through Week 6, and the Seminoles made the list.
He acknowledged that a 3-3 start to the season was to be expected, but is concerned about how they have looked in their games. He pointed to their loss to the SMU Mustangs, despite forcing four turnovers, and Friday's loss to the Louisville
Cardinals, where they led 14-0 before the Cardinals scored 35 straight points.
The game changed after FSU failed to score on fourth-and-goal from Louisville's two-yard line. The Cardinals scored touchdowns on their next four drives, but Bromberg is more concerned about what FSU's offense did next.
After that turnover on downs, Florida State punted the ball on five straight possessions and went three-and-out three times against a Louisville defense that's allowing 5.6 yards a play and is outside the top 100 in scoring defense.
FSU's offense will have an even tougher test this week when they play the No. 3 Miami Hurricanes, which is allowing just 9.8 points per game. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium and will air on ESPN.
