The FSU Seminoles have added some star power to their 2028 recruiting class, landing a commitment from outfielder Jakob Groeschel, who announced the news on social media.
"Beyond blessed and excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Florida State University!," he wrote.
"Thank you to my parents, family, coaches, trainers, and agent for all the sacrifices, support, and belief alongA dream come true. GO NOLES!"
Groeschel is from Springfield, Ohio, and is FSU's highest-rated commit. Perfect Game has given him a grade of nine, which classifies him as a "potential top 10 round pick and/or highest level college prospect."
While his stats from his sophomore season are not available, the 5-foot-10, 165-pounder had
an excellent freshman season at Kenton Ridge High School. In 20 games, he hit .459 with 12 doubles, 25 RBI, and 15 runs scored. He finished with a .542 on-base percentage and a .689 slugging percentage, walking 10 times and striking out five times in 72 plate appearances. The righty did not make an error in 35 chances in the field.
He is FSU's seventh commitment in the 2028 recruiting cycle and third-position player, joining infielder Alex Rodriguez and outfielder Devin Raines. They also have commitments from left-handed pitchers Brody Radwick, Sid Goecke, and Nate Hazard, and two-way player Garrett Harper. Groeschel is their first out-of-state commitment.
