Florida State men’s basketball coach Luke Loucks has made multiple changes to his staff ahead of his second season leading the Seminoles.
FSU announced Thursday that Justin Lindner has been promoted to assistant coach, while Sam Logwood has been hired as director of video and scouting. The program also officially confirmed the departure of assistant coach and director of player development Chris Kent, who has been named head coach of the Austin Spurs, the NBA G League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs.
Lindner’s promotion comes after he spent Loucks’ first season at Florida State as assistant director of player development. A former Seminoles player, Lindner returned to Tallahassee in 2025 after spending the previous season as an assistant coach
at Mercyhurst during the program’s transition from Division II to Division I. He previously coached at SoCal Academy in Los Angeles.
Loucks pointed to Lindner’s work in player development, basketball knowledge, and ability to connect with the roster as reasons for expanding his role.
“One of our goals as a staff is to develop coaches the same way we develop players, and Justin has earned this opportunity,” Loucks said.
Florida State is also adding Logwood, who brings both college and NBA experience to Tallahassee. Logwood spent three seasons as a video coordinator with the Sacramento Kings, where he previously worked alongside Loucks, and also served as a graduate assistant at Oregon. He most recently worked on the Cal State Bakersfield staff after joining the Roadrunners in 2025.
Loucks said Logwood’s background in video, scouting, and player development at the NBA level made him a strong fit for the program.
The changes come after Kent left Florida State following one season on Loucks’ staff. During Kent’s lone year with the Seminoles, FSU finished 18-15 overall and 10-8 in ACC play, winning 10 of its final 12 games and setting a program record with five consecutive ACC road victories.
With Lindner moving into an assistant coaching role and Logwood joining the operation, Loucks’ staff continues to take shape ahead of the 2026-27 season. Florida State is scheduled to open its non-conference slate Nov. 2 against Florida A&M in Tampa as part of the Orion180 Tip-Off Classic.
