The Florida State Seminoles didn't just beat the Virginia Cavaliers, they dominated them by a score of 38-7. There offense was on fire from the end of the first quarter until the game ended, and it was led by quarterback Ashton Daniels and his historic performance inside Doak Campbell Stadium.
He completed 12 of his 19 passes for 183 yards. However, that wasn't the historic part. Daniels ran for 136 yards on 17 carries, and he set an FSU record with five rushing touchdowns. He was able to be so effective because his offensive line blocked their tails off. Specifically, left guard Andre' Otto was a monster.
The 6-foot-5, 318-pounder ended up with seven knockdown blocks against Virginia. Also, Otto earned an effort grade of 99% and a position grade of 86%.
For their performances, Daniels was named the ACC's Quarterback of the Week, and Otto was named the Offensive Lineman of the Week.
Daniels has started to come into his own over the last several weeks. His efficiency with his passes has gotten better, and he seems to be playing free and with confidence. Otto has been with the program since 2023. He was in a reserve and special teams role before this season. Now, he's an established starter on an offensive line that got revamped during the offseason.
The Seminoles will need more games like these from Daniels and Otto going forward as they gear up for a tough ACC schedule.
