2027 three-star quarterback Logan Flaherty took his first unofficial visit to Florida State for a Junior Day event nearly two years ago in December of 2024. He took an unofficial visit last April, attended a camp last June, and also took a game visit last August for FSU's season opener against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
After they hosted him for another unofficial visit in March, Flaherty committed to the Seminoles in May, about two weeks before he returned for another camp. That's allowed him to spend a lot of time around the program and build some strong relationships, and one of those was with head coach Mike Norvell. However, he will no longer be coaching Flaherty once he signs with the program.
Norvell, as well as defensive coordinator Tony
White and safeties coach Evan Cooper, were all fired on Sunday. Of course, this makes players who are committed have to think about whether they want to stay with the Seminoles or reopen their recruitment. The latter is not an option for Flaherty, as he told the Rivals' staff that he's still strong on his pledge to Florida State.
“Just want to start off with saying I’m super blessed for my relationship with Coach Norvell and I wish him and his family the best moving forward,” he said. “I am still 100 percent locked in with the ‘Noles. Moving forward I will keep in touch with the hiring process for the next staff and I still am super fired up to be a ‘Nole in the future.”
Flaherty is the No. 802 recruit and the No. 42 quarterback prospect according to the Rivals industry rankings. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder is also the No. 63 player in Florida.
Since his commitment, Flaherty has been to Tallahassee on several occasions. He took an official visit back in June, and he was back two weeks later for a camp. When FSU played the SMU Mustangs back in September, Flaherty was in Tallahassee as well.
Flaherty has passed for 1,251 yards and produced eight touchdowns to four interceptions as a senior so far in nine games. He's run the ball for 749 yards on 82 carries and scored 11 times with three games of 100 yards or more. Last month, he was named the SWFL Regional Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, and he was named First-Team All-District by the FACA.
