Florida State will celebrate one of the most accomplished players in program history when Peter Warrick returns to Doak Campbell Stadium this fall.
The Seminoles and National Football Foundation will honor Warrick with a College Football Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute on Oct. 31, when Florida State hosts the Clemson Tigers. The recognition is part of the lead-up to Warrick’s formal induction into the College Football Hall of Fame later this year.
Warrick was announced in January as a member of the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame class, becoming the 12th Florida State representative elected. He joins a group of Seminole legends that includes Bobby Bowden, Warrick Dunn, Marvin Jones, Terrell Buckley, Derrick Brooks, Deion Sanders, Ron Simmons,
Charlie Ward, Darrell Mudra, Fred Biletnikoff, and Ron Sellers.
As part of the on-campus ceremony, Warrick will receive an NFF Hall of Fame plaque that will remain permanently displayed at Florida State. The tradition allows each Hall of Fame electee to return to his school and be recognized in front of the home crowd before the official induction ceremony.
Few players are as closely connected to Florida State’s dominant run in the late 1990s as Warrick.
The Bradenton, Florida, native played for the Seminoles from 1996-99 after redshirting in 1995 and became a two-time consensus All-American. Warrick still owns Florida State’s career record with 32 receiving touchdowns, while his 3,517 receiving yards were an ACC record at the conclusion of his career and remain second in FSU history. He also finished second in program history with 207 receptions and 15 100-yard receiving games.
Warrick helped Florida State compile a 45-4 record during his career and capped his time in Tallahassee by leading the Seminoles to the 1999 National Championship. He earned MVP honors in FSU’s 46-29 Sugar Bowl victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies after catching six passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns while adding a 59-yard punt-return score. The victory completed a wire-to-wire run at No. 1 for Florida State.
His legacy has already been recognized by the university on multiple occasions. Warrick entered the FSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010 and had his jersey retired in 2018. He was also selected to the ACC’s 50th Anniversary Team in 2002.
The Oct. 31 ceremony will give Warrick another opportunity to be honored inside Doak Campbell Stadium before the 68th NFF Annual Awards Dinner and Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.
