Former FSU quarterback Jordan Travis took to social media on Monday to share his thoughts after the Seminoles fired Mike Norvell. Travis was the most important player of the Norvell era and became one of the best quarterbacks in FSU history under Norvell's leadership.
"I just want to say thank you to Coach Norvell, thank you for what you did for me, not just as a football player, but as a man. You're one of the first people that has seen me as a man before a football player, and I'll never ever forget that man," an emotional Travis said.
"You believed in me in some of the hardest moments of my life, when no one else wanted to give me a chance, and that will hold a special place in my heart for the rest of my life. What you built was way beyond
wins and losses. You brought people together, you changed so many people's lives, you changed so many of my teammates' lives that I see are so successful right now.
"And I'll never ever forget that, you showed me what it meant to be consistent, a consistent person every single day. No matter how hard life is getting and no matter how bad you're feeling, you showed me how to be consistent, and when I'm a husband one day, when I'm a dad one day, I'll carry that with me forever, so thank you so freaking much."
Travis also went on to say that he "fully supports" the decision to fire Norvell and that he is excited about the future of the Seminoles.
Travis led FSU to an 11-0 record in 2023 before suffering his leg injury against North Alabama on Senior Night. He finished fifth in Heisman voting and was the ACC Player of the Year.
He spent four seasons at FSU, playing in 46 games and making 38 starts. He passed for 8,644 yards and 65 touchdowns and rushed for 1,910 yards and 31 touchdowns on 409 carries. He holds multiple FSU career records, including touchdowns.
