This is just the second time the two programs have met, with SMU beating the Seminoles 42-16 in 2024 in Dallas. Not much has gone right for FSU since that game, with them finishing that season 2-10 before going 5-7 last year. SMU, on the other hand, has enjoyed immediate success in the ACC; the Mustangs went 11-3 in 2024, making their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff.
