The FSU Seminoles and Miami Hurricanes played another classic on Saturday, with the Hurricanes pulling out a 43-35 win in double overtime.
The two rivals traded blows throughout the game, with either team unable to take a two-possession lead at any point. Miami opened the scoring in the first quarter, with FSU answering back in the second quarter. They traded more touchdowns in the quarter, and it was tied at 14 entering halftime.
Miami appeared poised to get the win, going up 28-21 with 2:49 to play, energizing the sold-out crowd at Hard Rock Stadium. Duce Robinson and Ashton Daniels quickly silenced them, connecting on a 75-yard play on the next drive. Miami was finally able to pull away in the second overtime, with Malachi Toney scoring the go-ahead
touchdown and the defense pressuring Daniels to set up a game-ending interception on 4th and 31 to win 43-35.
While FSU came up short, they made plays throughout the game. They enter their bye week 3-4 overall and 1-2 in ACC play. Here is a look at how FSU fans reacted to the double-overtime loss.

It is tough
Just when you thought Florida State couldn't take any more pain, that miracle play comes back because of a hold.

Did Duce Robinson catch this?
Florida State Catch or Miami interception?

Florida State only needs one play to tie it up against Miami with a 75-yard touchdown. pic.twitter.com/uhHsWW6KPJ
Was FSU robbed?
FSU got jobbed twice.

Should FSU still move on from Norvell?
No moral victories. Don’t stop pressuring the people in the charge.

Was this holding?
This was deemed a holding penalty on Florida State’s first 4th down touchdown.

Yes
If you would have told me this game would go to overtime earlier today I wouldn’t have believed you

FSU played pretty well
I hate it for our guys more than anything. They played a hell of a game and deserve way better than that

Fair
Two things I’ve learned tonight:
— Brock Juarez (@Juarez_Brock) October 18, 2026
1. Nothing, and I mean nothing, about this FSU football team makes any sense this year.
2. Miami is not a title contender. They may not even be an ACC title contender (again).
Gotta keep trying

They are trying
They called holding?!?!?! Aye man FSU gotta get out this conference!!!!!!!
— Colby Wright (@904KANG) October 18, 2026
FSU is headed the wrong way
A close loss to Miami doesn’t change the fact that the trajectory is not going in the desired direction.
— Dillon Riera (@13d_riera) October 18, 2026
It was brutal
The worse way to lose this game
— Nolehighlights (@Jaythealbum) October 18, 2026
It was questionable
Man….@theACC officials calling THAT a “hold” in that situation is just so comical. I know @DocStaples is furious.
— Dave Flemming (@FlemmingDa30605) October 18, 2026
A crazy ending
Florida State completing a 50 yard hail mary on 4th down in overtime and it getting wiped away because of a holding is one of the wildest things to happen this season #wow

A valid point
that FSU catch needed to stand, rule of cool
