The FSU Seminoles had big hopes for running back Ousmane Kromah when they signed him in 2025. He delivered with a solid freshman season and is poised for a breakout sophomore season.
He has impressed throughout camp and drawn plenty of praise from the coaching staff as he battles Samuel Singleton Jr. and Quintrevion Wisner for the starting spot. He received more praise on Tuesday, but this time it was with linebacker Chris Jones, whom he frequently goes against in practice.
Jones had plenty of compliments for Kromah, explaining why he is one of the best running backs he has ever faced.
"Ous is probably the best back I've faced since I've been in college," he said. "He's quick, he's shifty, he can pass pro. You know, he's one of the best pass-pro
running backs we have."
Kromah played in all 12 games last season, making two starts as part of the running back rotation. He finished third on the team in carries (72) and yards (408). He also showed how dangerous he can be in the passing game, catching nine passes for 147 yards and a touchdown.
Jones has brought a needed physicality to FSU's linebacker group, and he admitted that Kromah and the rest of the running backs have pushed him during practice.
"Every day he brings it," he said. "Today we were right beside each other, tired, running from breaking. He was like, ' You bring it, I'll bring it.' Every day Ous pushes me. The running back room as a whole really pushes me every day. They're quick backs, shifty backs.
"I think they're going to bring a lot to the table this year. So just every day, them pushing me, making me a better backer. And Ous especially, he's one of the best backs I've seen."
The question was never whether Kromah had the potential to be great, but if he would be able to put it together after flashing as a true freshman last season. It sure seems like he has done that this offseason.
