The FSU Seminoles are nearing the end of fall camp, and their Week 0 matchup with the New Mexico State Aggies on Aug. 29 is nearly here.
Mike Norvell and the Seminoles are looking to bounce back after back-to-back losing seasons, and they will be turning to several new players to try and make it happen. While Ashton Daniels was announced as the starter after spring and Duce Robinson and Micahi Danzy are back to lead the wide receivers, FSU's offense entered fall camp with plenty of position battles to figure out.
With FSU in the final week of fall camp before their game against New Mexico State, the vast majority of starting jobs have been won, though one or two will linger into the season. Here is our projected depth chart for the offense as the Seminoles
prepare to start the 2026 season.
Quarterback
Projected Starter: Ashton Daniels
Other Names to Know: Malachi Marshall, Kevin Sperry
Analysis: While there is no change at the top, Marshall and Sperry are in a battle to be Daniels' primary backup. Daniels won the job in the spring, and FSU is hoping the veteran can play the best football of his career in an offense that should maximize his ability to run the ball and has plenty of skill talent. Marshall probably has the most talented arm in the room, but Sperry has the experience, and the battle will likely continue into the season.
Running Back
Projected Starter: Ousmane Kromah
Names to Know: Samuel Singleton Jr., Quintrevion Wisner
Analysis: Running back might be the deepest position on FSU's roster, and all three of the top backs should see plenty of playing time in 2026, but Kromah has solidified himself as the clear starter. He flashed as a freshman, but he will be looking to be more consistent as a sophomore.
Singleton has improved every year he has been in Tallahassee and looks to have taken the biggest step of his career over the offseason. Wisner has missed time in fall camp with an injury, allowing Singleton and Kromah to show what they can do and make it a true competetion. Both of them will still see the field plenty behind Kromah, especially if FSU continues to feature 21 personnel with two running backs and one tight end.
Wide Receiver
Projected Starter: Duce Robinson, Micahi Danzy, Jayvan Bogs
Names to Know: Jasen Lopez, Tae'Shaun Gelsey, Devin Carter
Analysis: Robinson and Danzy have both had strong offseasons as they look to take another step. Danzy has focused on becoming a complete receiver after transitioning to wide receiver ahead of the 2025 season. Robinson is the best player on the team and someone they need to force-feed the ball to.
Boggs missed plenty of fall camp, allowing Lopez to emerge as a potential starter in the slot. While the true freshman has been impressive and will play a lot, Boggs is back and looks like he will begin the year as the starter due to his experience and blocking ability. Carter, another true freshman, and Gelsey have both been praised during fall camp, but are blocked by two proven players.
Tight End
Projected Starter: Desirrio Riles OR Landen Thomas
Names to Know: Chase Loftin, Greyson Labiad
Analysis: Riles and Thomas are both at their best as a receiving threat and can help threaten a defense. Neither one is a proven blocker, but they will need to improve in that area for FSU's offense to be as effective as it can be.
Labiad is not much of a receiving threat, but is likely the room's best blocker. Loftin has an exciting future but needs to keep filling out his frame. Norvell's offense tends to feature the tight ends prominently, and this group has the pass-catching ability to be an asset, but lacks a proven blocker.
Offensive Line
Left Tackle
Projected Starter: Xavier Chaplin
Names to Know: Nate Pabst, Jonathan Daniels
Analysis: The Seminoles are betting on Chaplin playing like he did with the Virginia Tech Hokies to start his career and not like he did last year with the Auburn Tigers. If he can regain that form, he can be one of the better left tackles in the ACC. Pabst has experience playing tackle and is likely the next man up if either one of them goes down or struggles. Daniels has taken a step over the offseason, but lacks experience.
Left Guard
Projected Starter: Andre Otto
Names to Know: Paul Bowling
Analysis: Otto is the only returning player expected to start along the offensive line, and it sounds like Bowling is pushing him after Otto missed some time with injury. He has transformed his body this offseason and is looking to become a reliable starter after playing in five games last season.
Center
Projected Starter: Brayden Welch-Joiner
Names to Know: Chavez Thompson
Analysis: Welch-Joiner quickly locked himself in as the starter after joining the Seminoles following time with the Purdue Boilermakers and Auburn Tigers. He gives them a proven veteran in the middle of the offense that can help everybody else come together. Thompson is the primary backup and looks like the future at center.
Right Guard
Projected Starter: Nate Pabst
Names to Know: Sean Poret, Paul Bowling
Analysis: Pabst was always going to start for FSU, it was just a matter of where. Him at right guard likely gives the unit a higher ceiling, and he has the flexibility to move to tackle if needed. Poret is another youngster who will be an important depth piece along the offensive line.
Right Tackle
Projected Starter: Chimdia Nwaiwu
Names to Know: Nate Pabst, Jonathan Daniels
Analysis: Nwaiwu is looking to make the difficult jump from Stephen F. Austin to the ACC, but has the raw talent to do so. He is an excellent athlete and could be a difference-maker for the Seminoles if he can handle the tougher competetion. If he struggles, it could be Pabst who slides over from guard if the coaching staff does not think Daniels is ready.
