Florida State football is back below .500 after a heartbreaking 43-35 loss to the Miami Hurricanes, in which they appeared to score two touchdowns in double overtime, but they were called back on due to a controversial holding penalty and a controversial interception ruling.
After the loss, Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports kept Florida State at No. 51 in his weekly re-rank of all 138 FBS teams.
Surrounding the Seminoles are the No. 50 Memphis Tigers and No. 52 Kansas State Wildcats. The Tigers are 5-2 and fourth in the American, while the Wildcats are 4-2 and eighth in the Big 12.
Florida State is now the 11th-best ACC team in Myerberg's rankings, with Virginia being the closest above them at No. 48. The Miami Hurricanes are the highest-ranked
ACC team at No. 2. Ohio State is the highest-ranked team in Myerberg's rerank, with BYU, Georgia, and Notre Dame rounding out the top five.
FSU will look to right the ship when they welcome the Clemson Tigers to Tallahassee - a team they have not beaten since 2023 - on Halloween. The game will air at 7 p.m. ET and air on the ACC Network.
